Hello fellow Perianesthesia Nurses!

I just wanted to remind everyone that it is time to celebrate our profession!!  February 6-12, 2017 is Perianesthesia Nurses Awareness Week!  Nurses working in peranesthesia and postanesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, and pain management are dedicated and passionate about caring for their patients.  This week is a time to educate our nursing colleagues and the community about the passionate care we provide to the perianesthesia patient audience on a daily basis!  Take time to thank your co-workers and share memories of your profession!  Plan a special luncheon or memory board at work!  Send me a picture of any celebrations you have.

This is also a great time to consider becoming certified in your profession.   WISPAN currently has 239 certified nurses; 101 are CAPA certified, 131 CPAN certified, and 7 are Dual certified!!  Join this group of nurses!   Spring 2017 CPAN and CAPA exam dates are April3-May 30.  Registration is now until March 6th!  Study guides are available on the ABPANC website.  WISPAN also has two certification coaches to utilize;  Donna Lopez, RN, CAPA and Annika Arzikovic, RN, CAPA.  Their contact information is on the website.

Hope to see many of you at the WISPAN Winter Conference in Madison on Feb. 4th!!  See the website to register for this exciting conference. This is a great way to network and meet many nurses from across the state of Wisconsin!

Blessings,

Pattie Miller, RN, BSN, CAPA
