A letter to our WISPAN Members

Posted almost 5 years ago by Jennifer Paquette

Dear WISPAN Members,

The WISPAN Executive BODs recently held a virtual meeting to discuss our budget with the purpose of finding ways to continue supporting our members while keeping WISPAN viable during this difficult time. Unfortunately, we were unable to hold our spring and, now, fall seminars. These seminars are not only an important avenue for our members to gain knowledge and network with others within their chosen specialty, but also the main source of income for WISPAN.

Historically, WISPAN has awarded approximately $15,000.00 each year in awards and scholarships. With the loss of income, the Board had to make some decisions to ensure WISPAN survives as an organization.

Although difficult, we found no other option but to suspend scholarships and monetary awards until further notice. One exception will be CPAN and CAPA certification and recertification scholarships. The BODs believe professional growth through certification must be supported by any means. Of course, we will honor what has already been awarded in other areas as well.

Members of the WISPAN BODs are working closely with ASPAN to develop virtual educational options for our members. This is one of our highest priorities. The BOD members are incredibly committed to this goal and is communicating frequently through emails, text messages, and virtually. Our next BOD virtual meeting will be held on November 10th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 p.m. We would love to have you join us. Please contact Jen Paquette at WISPANwebsite@gmail.com if you are interested.

We are diligently striving to identify a way to host a virtual seminar on February 6, 2021. Our hope is to offer this as live presentations where attendees will be able to ask questions in real time. Please continue to reference the WISPAN Website where information will continue to be shared regarding this offering.

Please do not hesitate to contact any BOD member with suggestions, concerns, or questions you may have.

Respectfully,

Your WISPAN Board of Directors
