New Clininical eLearning - ASPAN: Mosby's Orientation to Perianesthesia Nursing

Product Description:

The NEW ASPAN: Mosby’s Orientation to Perianesthesia Nursing online course prepares nurses for the highly-specialized practice of caring for patients throughout all stages of the perianesthesia continuum. Developed with the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), this course teaches perianesthesia registered nurses the skills and competencies required to deliver safe, effective pre- and post-anesthesia care and focuses on managing care, maximizing outcomes, minimizing complications, and promoting health and safety. The course consists of 35 lessons and is designed to complement a perianesthesia clinical orientation or for continuing education.  Additionally, a Knowledge Inventory Tool (KIT) allows educators and managers to assign specific lessons tailored to meet the needs of each individual learner. The course adheres to adult learning theory in that each nurse should be educated in a personalized manner.  There are three versions of a multiple choice final exam tailored to reflect the learner’s specific patient population: adult and pediatric patients, adult patients only, and pediatric patients only. Contact hours are available for each lesson and are provided through the Elsevier/Mosby Office of Continuing Nursing Education.

 

The lessons combine self-paced content with rich graphics and animations to teach learners the fundamentals of perianesthesia nursing. Each lesson includes:

• Knowledge Checks to gauge knowledge acquisition and engage the learner
• Case Studies that enable the learner to use critical thinking skills to apply knowledge to real-life scenarios
• Preceptor Exercises that suggest hands-on skills and knowledge acquisition that the learner can complete with his or her preceptor
• Course Notebooks that include key takeaway points from each lesson
• Reference resources for learners or educators to use to deepen knowledge of course content
• Contact hours that are awarded upon successful completion of each lesson’s post-test
